Our Story

NFT ART DAY was initiated by Katharina de Vaivre and Georg Bak in 2022, with the mission to create new grounds on the interconnections between Web3 and art, and to spark dialogue about the role and impact of emerging technologies in the art sphere. The conference spotlights crypto art within the wider realm of the history of digital art whilst building bridges with the art world; it focuses on art and NFTs, the innovation and potential of blockchain technology, historical digital art dating since the 1950s, market performance, and other components of this complex ecosystem. Through a line up of top experts and leading figures from both the art and tech worlds, the conference acts as a platform offering critical conversations, new views and understandings on the relationship between art and NFTs.

Georg
Bak

  • Co-Founder of NFT ART DAY ZRH

    Georg Bak is an art advisor and curator who specializes in digital art, NFTs, and generative photography. Bak has worked in senior positions at Hauser & Wirth and as a fine art specialist at LGT Bank (Switzerland) Fine Art Services. He currently advises institutions and art collectors at the intersection of blockchain technology and art. He has advised MoCDA (Museum of Contemporary Digital Art), CADAF (Contemporary and Digital Art Fair), and Rare Digital Art Festival #2. He is on the curatorial board of SNGLR Art Collection, CRYPTO OASIS Art Collection, and GENAP Collection. As an independent curator he has worked with Sotheby’s, Phillips, and The Vancouver Biennale.

Katharina
de Vaivre

    Katharina is also Managing Director of E.A.T. /Engadin Art Talks – the interdisciplinary forum of art, architecture, design, and science - and leads in her role E.A.T.’s development since ten years to becoming a cutting-edge international art event. She has more than 17 years of experience in the art world, working at leading institutions such as Sotheby’s, and the State Art Collections of Dresden. She holds several academic degrees, such as Diplom-Kauffrau, Master of Science, and Diplôme de Grands Écoles from the ESCP.

  • Michel is a co-founder of elementum.art, a highly curated marketplace for digital art focusing on pioneers in the field. His work extends beyond the founding aspects and delves into product development at Tokengate, which includes elementum.art.

    Michel's passion for the arts is not limited to his professional engagements. He is also an avid art collector, expressing his deep appreciation for creativity in all its forms. This fusion of tech innovation and artistic appreciation positions Michel at the exciting intersection of digital innovation and artistry, bringing a unique perspective to digital art and blockchain technology.

Sofia
Gkinko

  • Project & Content Manager

    Sofia Gkinko holds a PhD in Literature and Media Studies, from the University of Patras, and a MAS in Curating from the Zurich University of the Arts; she has been trained in Digital Humanities at the University of Leipzig and University of Oxford. She has worked in cultural institutions and has participated in international conferences and multidisciplinary research projects, at the intersection of literature and translation. Her interests encompass art, language and technology, with a particular emphasis on generative literature and blockchain poetics.

Rieder

    Tom Rieder is the co-founder of elementum, and Managing Director of Tokengate. In the past years Tom Rieder worked in different Marketing postions in the ICT industry, where he last held the position of Swisscom’s Head of Partnership and Live Experiences

    Tom Rieder holds a degree in Business Administration and economics with a focus on marketing and e-commerce from the University of Bern and is fluent in German, French, and English. His expertise in Tech. has been sharpened through decades of experience. Despite his demanding work schedule, Tom Rieder strives to maintain a balanced lifestyle that includes his interests in outdoor sports and passions for Wushu, art, and technology.
